New Cyber Security Bill Introduced
Washington, DC April 2nd, 2009 --- Senators John Rockefeller (D-W. Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) have introduced a new Bill that seeks to create an all powerful Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor that would have unfettered power to monitor and control Internet traffic to protect against perceived threats to critical cyber infrastructure.
The bill would grant the Commerce Department, not noted for it's high profile in government, the ability to override all privacy laws to access any information about Internet usage in connection with a new role in tracking cybersecurity threats. This bill would give the government unprecedented control over all computer software and Internet services, threatening innovation, freedom and privacy. If a future President believes you are a threat to him, or his ideology then zap, you are closed down.
